What Is an ORI Number?

An ORI (Originating Agency Identification) Number is a unique code used during Florida electronic fingerprinting and background screening. The ORI number tells the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) where to send your fingerprint results and identifies the specific purpose of your background check. Each employer, licensing board, government agency, school, or organization has its own ORI number to ensure your results are routed correctly.

Why Is the Correct ORI Number Important?

Providing the correct ORI number is essential for processing your fingerprint submission.

An incorrect ORI number may:

● Send your results to the wrong agency

● Delay your employment or licensing application

● Require you to be fingerprinted again

● Result in additional fingerprinting fees

Before your appointment, verify your ORI number with the organization requesting your

background screening.

Where Can I Find My ORI Number?

Your ORI number is provided by the employer, agency, or licensing board requesting your

fingerprints. It may appear on:

● Employment or onboarding instructions

● Fingerprinting authorization forms

● Emails from your employer or agency

● Professional license applications

● Background screening request forms

● AHCA Clearinghouse screening requests

Florida Department of Health applicants may also find their ORI number on their online

application, printed application instructions, or within the licensing requirements for their

profession.

Schedule Your Appointment

Once you have your ORI number and required documentation, Rapid Fingerprint is ready to

provide fast, accurate, and secure fingerprinting services.

AHCA and Clearinghouse Applicants

Applicants seeking employment with AHCA-regulated facilities should first confirm that their

employer or licensed provider has initiated the screening through the Care Provider

Background Screening Clearinghouse.

Your employer or requesting organization will provide:

● The correct ORI number

● Any required screening request number

● Additional instructions needed before your appointment

What Should I Bring?

To help your appointment go smoothly, please bring:

● A valid government-issued photo ID

● Your complete ORI number

● Any screening request, authorization, or reference number provided

● Employer or licensing agency instructions (if applicable)

After your fingerprints are submitted electronically, you may receive a Transaction Control

Number (TCN). Keep this number for your records, as it may be needed to track or reference

your fingerprint transaction.

Important Notice

Rapid Fingerprint does not create, assign, or determine ORI numbers.

The correct ORI number must be provided by the employer, licensing board, government

agency, school, healthcare facility, or organization requesting your background screening.

While we will accurately enter the information you provide, we cannot determine which ORI

number applies to your specific profession, license, or employment requirement. Please verify

your ORI number before your appointment to help prevent delays or the need for resubmission..
